Fund for the Arts on the North Shore (FANS)
The FANS Distinguished Artist Award is intended to publically recognize and honour North Shore artists who have created a substantial, nationally recognized body of work in performing, visual, literary or media arts.
FANS honours distinguished North Shore artists, and provides funding support to local artists, and fundraises to sustain the Fund for the Arts on the North Shore (FANS) and its continuing support for the creative community.
Stan van Woerkens has been an annual sponsor for the past 4 years.

Handsworth Secondary
Stan van Woerkens provides an annual scholarship start up fund to a graduating high school student of Handsworth Secondary School, North Vancouver, BC. The criteria for the scholarship are as follows:
This Grade 12 student accomplished, under challenging circumstances, to make time for participation in extra curricular activities in and outside the school as well as in the local community. Worked together and supported their peers and local residents in need.
During this time the family circumstances and financial position were not ideal.
This passionate, unique and genuine Handsworth student has a strong social standing and is seen as a leader by the staff and their peers.
This professional community and school contributor shows a great interest in learning and consistently works hard in all their classes. This student is not necessarily a top “A” 90% average type student but puts in an exceptional effort and is able to balance school with other commitments and priorities.
Children’s Mircacle Network
Stan van Woerkens donates a percentage of each home he sells to the Children Miracle Network.
Children’s Miracle Network raises funds and awareness for 170 member hospitals, 14 of which are in Canada. Donations stay local to fund critical treatments and healthcare services, pediatric medical equipment and research. Its various fundraising partners and programs support the nonprofit’s mission to save and improve the lives of as many children as possible. Each day, over 4,900 children will receive medical treatment for various diseases, sickness and injuries at Children’s Miracle Network member hospitals across Canada. These children’s hospitals depend on financial support to help fund critical priorities such as:
Children’s Miracle Network provides additional funding to ensure that vital programs, equipment and research devoted to children’s health continue to thrive.

Rotary Club Of Lions Gate
Stan van Woerkens works as a volunteer Rotary Board and fundraising member to support local youth programs on the North Shore. Through fundraising activities and organized events Stan van Woerkens works with fellow board members and the local community to create awareness for youth programs in need.
